What You'll Gain
As a UCSB Scuba Club member, you’ll get more than just access to dives. You’ll join a community of students who share an interest in the ocean, marine life, and underwater exploration. I first joined scuba club as a motivator to get me in the ocean. I had grown up by the ocean but was really unfamiliar with socal beaches and was hoping to find a community to get me out there. Luckily scuba club was super welcoming and helpful in motivating me to get out there. I was able to learn a lot about the local oceans and animal identification which made me feel a lot safer and a more confident diver.
I’m really glad that I joined scuba club because it was really great getting to meet people who were able to teach me things about diving gear, scientific diving, and many more nuances of the diving world. On top of the technical stuff I was able to meet some of my best friends and favorite diving buddies. Its great to get out in the ocean with such great people!

I joined SCUBA Club because diving is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I felt so lucky to find a group of people who share that same passion. I’ve been scuba diving since I was 10 years old, and through the club I’ve not only loved helping others learn, but also expanding my own skills through things like freediving. Some of my favorite memories and closest friendships have come from SCUBA Club, and it’s honestly become such an important part of my life.

Growing up I’ve always loved the ocean but I never thought I’d really realize that passion of mine. I chose to study accounting instead of marine science because I was worried it wasn’t feasible. If it weren’t for scuba club, I would have let that passion die. With the club, I’ve gone on my first ever freedives, night dives, and scuba dive. It’s my favorite part of UCSB.
